A speech to watch
Frederick Douglass refers to a progressive speech that couldn't be ignored. The link here will bring you a video of a girl giving a presentation to an arm of the United Nations. It's about a different topic and, obviously, of a different time period, but the point here is the courage and vision she / they embody when speaking up on behalf of silenced pieces of our world.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art
This looks to be a really interesting collection, and therefore a great excuse to go to the Met over break. It does cost a bit, so if you want to do learn about the topic without necessarily going to the museum, let me know (email), and we'll see what we can come up with.

It also means that there are examples of people who are using the type of thinking we're doing to change their lives and the lives of others. Here are links to a few places that are doing just that:
High-school girl thinking progressively, and people helping girls live the lives they choose.

Extra Credit - Song Lyrics
Ani DiFranco's "Not a Pretty Girl" If you don't know of her work, both her music and her lyrics are phenomenal. If you really like it, I can burn a CD for you. Enjoy.
